    Reunion Summary:

SEBS-North America conducted it’s 3rd Reunion during ANA Convention on July 5th, 2002. Unlike in previous years the management was not up to par as expected by the members and I would like to be personally held responsible for it due to some work related unforeseen circumstances that surrounded the schedule. However, it did not take away any of the glorious moments, joys, handshaking and poli-talking amongst 90 or so SEBSers who were gathered for the occasion.

Year 2002 will be remembered by many alumni members of various schools in North America as a year in which seed was planted for their future alumni reunions. SEBS-North America and ANA will forever be remembered as an organization that helped them come together. 60 or so Vanasthali, St. Xavier’s and St. Mary’s students gathered for the first time in the evening and already charted their future networking plans. Sagar Onta, made video presentations about Porter Assistance Program of HEC and about opening schools and libraries in Nepal for RoomtoRead. This is the first time we are joining hands with other organizations to produce some synergies.

1st President of SEBS, Mr. Bimal Nepal added another high light to the occasion. He inducted the newly elected executive committee and wished them well for coming days. On the occasion he also donated a check of $101.00 to SEBS-North America. Sagar Onta and myself went over the Annual Report and draft of Memoranda of Understanding , first of it’s kind that detailed our past activities and focused in our future plans. Sagar Onta must be thanked for pulling together this report. We also used this opportunity to thank and recognized various people who made a difference for this organization. List includes but not limited to are:
Rajan, Nepal (web master), past VP Mr. Suren Shakya, SEBS-NA advisors, Prashant Subba, Diwaskar/Puskar/Rushil team for Networking along with Ujwal and his team from Nepal, SEBS excomm, BNKS teachers and Management, Mr. Ram Kharel and his STV team, ANA organizers and Mr. Simon Dhungana 780A dai. Mr Suraj Basnet and Mr. Rajendra Oli for helping us with election. During ANA convention Dr. Tulsi Joshi donated a set of Encyclopedia to SEBS-NA book project which is already on it’s way to Nepal along with books donated by 264B Tirtha Timsina. Thanks to 310B Dinesh Prasain who kindly agreed to take 30 kilo’s of books this morning to Nepal. Additional 56 books were received from various attendees during ANA Convention worth about $1000. These books will be sent in the near future to Nepal. Surya Chataut 273B, Nischal Shrestha 400B and Atin Baral 400B performed during cultural program in ANA convention. Following is an excerpt by Paramendra Bhagat on SEBS-NA reunion.

This was the first time I had made it to one, and I am glad I did. On Friday evening, we had our meeting chaired by the founder and president, our own Kiran Sitoula. He did a great job of speaking without notes - made it more intimate - and making his remarks inclusive. He got many speakers participating. That is the least we can do to express gratitude to those who contribute throughout the year. A memo of understanding was presented. To me of greater interest was the progress report. The document showed what had been accomplished thus far, and what the aims for the coming year were. I noted with interest that the SEBS presidents both in Nepal and the US happen to be from the 200B batch for the time being at least. I am proud of them as a 200B person myself.

Kiran also did a good job of reaching out to the alumni from other schools, mostly from Kathmandu, but one outside as well.

Personally I was just happy to be able to find a venue to meet people some of whom I had not met in over a decade - Soham, Sourya, Bishnu - others that I have not met in years - Dinesh, Diwaskar (met his wife Kristina for the first time), Ram PD, Tirtha, Dilip - some not for weeks - Kamal, Kiran (his wife Pragya danced on stage .. cool beans). And of course those from other batches. Like Sidharth Kumai from summer 1999 when I did an internship in Philly; and his gang of friends. 400B folks, Sagar, Gopal, Nabina, Ram, Ujwal, Pushkar, Gyanu, Bad-One Badan. Nischal was surrounded by his fans when I bumped into him. I was glad I had his CD. The Basnet brothers, Kanak and Kanchan. Dipta and Suraj, Annapurna folks. Some more "bhais" who introduced themselves to me. I am grateful. ........
