SEBS at 25 years. Vision and Planning Workshop Conducted.

SEBS @ 25:Visioning and Planning Workshop Hotel Orchid, Kathmandu 3 August 2002

On August 3rd, 2003, 23 SEBS members representing 11 batches, ranging from the first batch to the 18th batch (see Annex 1 for the list of participants) participated in a workshop held at Hotel Orchid, Kathmandu and agreed on an organizational Goal Statement for SEBS. Activities and strategies to achieve the five year goal were identified, sorted according to their importance and urgency, and prioritized. It was agreed that a series of planning workshop will be held soon to work out further details for the major prioritized activities.
Dinesh Prasain (310B) drafted a proposal on the last week of July 2002, which was then discussed by an informal planning group later on. The planning group consisted of Suraj Dahal (203B), Gyanendra Pandey (937B), Hemendra Bohra (978B), Rabindra Maharjan (255B), Ujwal Thapa (552B), Dinesh Prasain (310B), Hem Raj Bhandari (803B) and Chandra Man Maharjan (768B). An attempt was made to contact representatives from all batches, including girl members, to participate in the workshop.
Outcome
The Organizational Goal of SEBS for the next five years, as negotiated in the workshop, is as follows:
“By the end of 2007, SEBS will have evolved as an internationally recognized, financially sustainable, professionally run, managerially efficient and gender-balanced organization which, (a) caters to the relevant personal and professional needs of SEBS members, (b) can institutionally contribute in the progress of Budhanilkantha School through a legally defined representation in the School Board and other decision making processes, and (c) provides a platform for members to voluntarily engage in nationally significant social service activities.â€
The following matrix summarizes the urgency, importance and priority order of major activities identified to achieve the five year organizational goal.

A series of planning sessions will be organized to develop each of the major important activities into project proposals and documents. More effort will be made to include girl / female members in future planning and decision making processes. SEBS Spokesperson Ujwal Thapa
