SEBS-NA Meeting Minutes for October 2002
    Author: Kiran Sitoula
    Post Date: 11/14/2002
A meeting of the SEBS-NA Executive Committee started at 3 pm EST on the Nov 9, 2002 at the ExComm meeting room at www.sebsonline.org. The following people were present:
    Kiran Sitoula, President
Laxman Udas Pandey, Ad-hoc Vice President
    Sagar Onta, General Secretary
    Yubraj Acharya, Treasurer
    Sonam Sherpa , Observer

    · SEBS-NA was pleased with the development with NSP and decided to form a committee headed by Sagar Onta. LUP will work as the advisor. Members from North America who are willing to help will be included in the team. This committee will communicate with and suggest the NSP team of SEBS on what programs to conduct in the US to market NSP. Sagar will write to NSP regarding this matter.
    · The committee unanimously agreed that the correspondence and positive action from SEBS is critical in formulating successful partnership with SEBS to conduct projects in Nepal and at Budhanilkantha School. SEBS-NA will make another concerted effort to be in touch with SEBS in Nepal and work on the issue. If things don’t progress, SEBS-NA, with direction from Advisors, will go forward with taking charge of projects in Nepal to fulfill our stated goals. SEBS will be informed regularly of the progress made in these projects.
    · Kiran to lead the internet project at Budhanilkantha School.
    · The committee’s attention was drawn to dissatisfaction expressed by some members regarding inaccessibility to internet, limited number of opening hours in the library, discomfort experienced in checking out books from the library and in getting access to magazines subscribed for the upper senior houses. It was decided to request Ujwal to check if the claims were authentic. If the claims are true, SEBS-NA will formulate and send a protest letter to the school. .
    · It was decided to launch a goodwill SEBS-NA “Phonothone Drive" and reach every member in SEBS in North America. The phonathone will start as soon as Kiran comes up with details on who to contact whom.
    · During the phonothone, members will also be asked if they want to represent their batch for SEBS-NA. The main task of the batch reps would be to keep in touch with their batch mates and keep SEBS-NA informed of matters relating to the batch. All batches are encouraged to use the batch message boards at sebsonline.
    · Everyone will be requested to update their phone numbers/profiles in sebsonline in the next outgoing newsletter.
It was discussed about what SEBS-NA should be doing in future, but no decision was made.

    Financial Update

    - No contribution was received this month.
    - Calsoft (Internet Service provider) has sent a bill for $100.00 to cover 6 months of additional service.
