    SEBS wins World Bank Grant

In an event that brought together 183 social entrepreneurs from 63 different countries from the original 2,700 proposals submitted, Nationwide Scholarship Program (NSP) of Society of Ex-Budhanilkantha Students (SEBS) in partnership with Development Projects Service Center (DEPROSC) was awarded a grant of USD 166,771 (Rs. 12.4 million) for it’s Sustainable “Doko Dai” Mobile Library Project.
The project aims to transport educational resources using Doko (cane basket) to rural areas. The project will provide extra-curricular learning opportunities through the innovative mobile library system. It further aims to assist the formal education process by providing scholarships via Nationwide Scholarship Program.
NSP awards scholarships to the needy children of Nepal to further their secondary education up to SLC. So far it has awarded more than 200 scholarships to such needy students. Core strength of the global network of the Budhanilkantha alumni spanning nationwide and in more than 32 countries is credited for the success of this program by assuring sustainability of the project.
In addition, SEBSer-Sameer Karki of IUCN was also awarded DM 2003 Grant of USD 194,400 (Rs. 14.5 million) for “Reduce Land Use Conflicts through Local Initiatives” project.
