    Sustainable "Doko Dai" Mobile Library Project (SDDMLP) Launc

    SDDMLP implemented by Nationwide Scholarship Programme (NSP) of Society of Ex-Budhanilkantha Students (SEBS), in partnership with Development Project Service Centre (DEPROSC) and winner of Development Marketplace 2003 of 'World Bank' formally launched on "UNESCO World Book and Copy Right Day", Friday, April 23, 2004 at Birendra International Convention Center (BICC), New Baneshwor, Kathmandu.

    The Information Dissemination Session on SDDMLP commenced with a welcome address by Mr. Gyanendra Raj Pandey, NSP Chairman. Mr. Prajesh Bikram Thapa, SEBS President, highlighted the objective of program followed by presentation on SDDMLP by Mr. Bijaya Babu Shiwakoti, NSP Secretary.

    Mr Krishna Neupane, Senior Institutional Development Officer of DEPROSC Nepal, and member of Project Facilitation Committee of SDDMLP, briefed activities of DEPROSC Nepal and its role in the implementation of SDDMLP. Mr B K Vaidya, Acting Principal of Budhanilkantha School, highlighted SEBS's contribution towards the society.

    On behalf of the supporting organizations: Mr. Uttar Tamata, President of Children's Home; Mr. Dinesh Prasain, Coordinator of Collective Campaign for Peace (COCAP); Mr. Dinesh Shrestha, Director of Room to Read; Mr. Suman Katuwal, Program Director of Kantipur City College (KCC); Mr. Prakash Thapa, Chief Librarian of American Centre; and Mr. Pawan Chitrakar, Representative of Himal Media Publication spoke on collaboration with SDDMLP.

    Mr. Bhola Kumar Shrestha, President of Nepal Library Association and Mr. Dasharath Thapa, Chief of Nepal National Library briefed activities about their organizations and support to SDDMLP on the occasion.

    The presenter addressed queries put forward by invitees on the floor. Invitees from various libraries, developmental organizations, media personnel, well-wishers, and members of SEBS were present.

    Mr. Bhupendra Bilas Pant, NSP National Coordinator, adjourned the program with a vote of thanks to all the contributors who joined hands to bring SDDMLP to this stage.

    The event was published by the Kathmandu Post and The Himalayan Times national dailies. Image Metro Television and Nepal Television covered the event on the evening News.
