    Discussions, Decisions and Assignments

    Agenda 1; Condolence to SEBSer Saroj Simkhada 030B who passed away recently in USA.

    The executive committee is deeply shocked by the sudden and untimely demise of a SEBSer, Saroj Simkhada 030B (19th batch), who was in the USA. The executive committee extends it heartfelt condolence to the Family of Saroj Simkhada. It was decided that a Condolence message would be posted on www.sebsonline.org on the 45th day of his demise.

    Agenda 2: Meeting with the SEBS Past Presidents, in the near future.

    Meeting with the all the past presidents was planned, but due to the absence of some of the past presidents and other reasons, the meeting was postponed for a week. But unfortunately the meeting could not be held due to the situation that followed, bandhs and the curfew imposed in Kathmandu valley. Hitesh will again coordinate with all the past presidents of SEBS and schedule a meeting in the near future. The meeting would nominate a name from among the past presidents to represent SEBS in the School Management Committee (SMC).

    Agenda 3: Nomination of the Treasurer

    The post of the Treasurer is still vacant. The nomination to be finalized within the month of September has been delayed due to difficult situation in Kathmandu, in recent time. The meeting decided to fill the position as early as possible. The ex-comm directed Hitesh and Ashish to coordinate the nomination process.

    Agenda 4: Database on SEBSers stationed at the Middle East, Gulf region.

    The ex-comm would like highlight the fact that the biggest assets of SEBS are its own members. In the wake of the tragic event on 1st September 2004 that came upon 12 Nepalese in Iraq, the ex-comm feels it can but extend heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members. SEBS ex-comm feel in current context it would like to remind all that SEBS has already lost one of its members about a year ago while working in UAE - 409 ‘B’ Purna was brutally murdered in UAE on his way back home. The executive committee decided to collect the whereabouts of all the SEBSers stationed and residing in the Middle East and Gulf region. Further, it will seek to bring the SEBSers in these locations in contact with each other as well as assign focal contact persons in case of emergencies.

    Agenda 5: Meeting with FOBS Ex.-comm

    As scheduled, SEBS Executive committee will meet with the FOBS Executive committee within this month at the SEBS office. Bishan has already informed the FOBS chairperson of this and has requested him to consult with his members and let us know of the suitable date and time for the goodwill meeting. It is expected that this meeting will familiarize ex-comm members of both the bodies with each other as well as bring in new understandings and collaborations.

    Agenda 6: New BNKS Liasion Officer for SEBS

    In a recent letter sent by BNKS Principal, Mr. N.P.Sharma to the SEBS president, a new Liaison Officer for SEBS has been nominated. According to the letter dated August 27, 2004, the Senior management Team (SMT) has decided to nominate Mrs. Hira Gurung as the SEBS Liasion officer.

    It was decided to send in an official thank you and welcome letter to Mrs. Hira Gurung for accepting the position. Hitesh will work on sending the official welcome letter to her as soon as possible.

    Agenda 7: SEBSers meet at BNKS

    SEBS will work towards organizing a Sports meet a kind named “Dashain Meet” (Football and other games) at BNKS before Dashain festival. This would be a get-together for SEBSers as well as idea sharing platform. Sharad and Hitesh will meet Mr. N.P.Sharma, the principal of BNKS and fix a date and plan accordingly. Apart from football; basketball and volleyball competition is also to be organized with the school.

    Further, Hitesh informed the executive committee of his meeting with the Principal Mr. N.P. Sharma a week back. He informed that the principal has assured SEBS of all kinds of possible support from the School's side and vice versa.

    Agenda 8: New student representative from BNKS to SEBS ex-comm

    Mrs. Gurung, in consultation with the Head of Houses (HOH) of the 4 senior houses of BNKS has nominated two students of A2. The two new school representatives to the SEBS are from 500 C. They are Pinki 560C and Gaurav 579C. The executive committee would like to thank her for her effort and also welcome the new representative to the ex-comm.

    Agenda 9: “Year Ahead” plan of action for SEBS for this year

    Discussions on the ‘Year Ahead’ plan of action of the New Ex-Comm to be posted on the www.sebsonline.org were held at the ex-comm meeting. Hitesh floated the final draft of the action plan, which was discussed over and among the ex-comm members prior to the meeting through the emails. The meeting approved the plan of action and the message. Hitesh will be posting the message online.


    Agenda 10: Updates on FOBS and NSP

    Bishan updated the executive committee about FOBS and NSP, in his position as the SEBS representative to both of the bodies. It was reported that FOBS AGM was held on Aug 31, 2004. Sanjeev Shah is the Chairperson of FOBS. NSP's new brochure has been published, Dokodai is in full swing and scholarship amounts are being disbursed. NSP has recently received the money amount of approximately NRs.1,47,000 from North America collected and sent by Kiran Sitoula.

    Agenda 11: Other discussions/Issues

    • Hitesh attended the Inaugural ceremony of the 'Adolescent and Reproductive Health Training' organized by the Science Club of BNKS on Aug 26th.


    • Bishan attended the Opening Ceremony of The "King Gyanendra Cup Inter-College Basketball competition-2004" organized by STAR club on Aug 29th.

    • A new idea to improve the food standard of BNKS was proposed by Sharad. He proposed the idea of training the chefs and cooks of BNKS kitchen at the Soaltee Hotel. The idea was really welcomed in the meeting and thus was decided to take it to the school through FOBS
