    News in Depth

    Message from the Ex-Comm
    Author: Hitesh Karki
    Post Date: 2/16/2005
    Dear SEBSers,

Keeping into consideration the current political situation of the country, the Ex-Comm was forced to take a decision to go for "monitoring" of the online poll and discussions carried out in the 'General forum'.

We would like to remind all our members that, SEBS, having been registered in Social Welfare Council (SWC) and Kathmandu District Administration Office (KDAO) of the HMG, is bound to comply with all forms of directives issued by the HMG.

Such decision had to be taken because we did not want people ( by Sebsers and moreover from people outside of the SEBS domain ) from any political inclination utilizing this forum for their own purpose, since SEBS is a non-political organization.

We are all aware of the fact that this decision must have 'irked' Sebsers all over the world as SEBS always has stood by philosophy of 'Freedom of Speech'. We would like to urge Sebsers, especially those abroad to understand and realize the fact that, back home due to unprecedented political developments, this was a decision we had to take for there was no second option. As for voicing your opinion, you can do so by logging in the 'Almuni Page'.

In such times of difficulty we would like to urge you all to understand the position of the Ex-Comm in safeguarding the position of SEBS as an socially responsible institution rather than making 'hasty' comments without trying to get beneath the depth of the problem. We are very much hopeful/confident that you will all agree with our decision.

Finally, we would like to thank Mr.Sagar Onta ,President SEBS-NA and the members of SEBS-NA Ex-Comm, Mr Rajan Nepal and members of web committee for standing by our decision.

    On behalf of the SEBS-ExComm,
    Hitesh Karki
    President
    SEBS.
