SEBS-NA Reunion 2006: Constitution Amended, Committee Expanded
The fourth annual general meeting of SEBS-North America was held in Newark, NJ, on July 2, 2006. A total of 47 members attended the program (see below). SEBS-NA President, Sagar Onta, presented the Annual Report 2005/06 and briefed the members on the ongoing activities of SEBS-NA. Sagar dai also welcomed, and expressed his best wishes to, the new executive committee to be headed by Bhupendra Pant,550B. Sagar dai also thanked Puru Subedi, the election commissioner, and Rajan Nepal, our webmaster, for coordinating the elections. Amendments to the constitution proposed by the new executive committee (see below) were approved unanimously.
• Major amendments to the constitution include:
1)Members to be defined as those students who have attended Budhanilkantha School for minimum of one year, and who have been present in the geographical North America for the past six months.
2)Expansion of the executive committee to 9 members, at least two of which will be currently enrolled in an academic program and at least one woman member
3)Designation of General Secretary as the official spokesperson of SEBS-North America
4)A more defined role for the Immediate Past President
5)Creation and role-definiton of the position of Joint-Secretary
6)Formalized provisions for online election in sebsonline.org as well as during AGM
7)A greater emphasis on fund transparency and reporting
8)Only President and General Secretary will be authorized to sign contracts on behalf of the organization
9)Quorum of AGM set to 19 (1 more than the number of the executive committee).
