    Meeting with Bimal Nepal, senior dais and SEBS-NA

    On November 17th 2001, SEBS Founding President Bimal Nepal dai (100A) , Bimal Pathak dai (100A), Bal Krishna dai (200B) and Sagar Onta (477B), SEBS-NA General Secretary, met at Bimal Pathak dai's house in Vancouver, WA. It was a very informative and cordial meeting and several SEBS issues were touched upon. Following are the points that were discussed.

  • SEBS-NA President, Kiran Sitoula's relentless effort and leadership was very much appreciated and recognized that it was most critical for the formation and continuation of SEBS-NA.
  • Bimal Nepal dai gave background on SEBS formation, history, relationship with BNKS and various hardships regarding continuation of SEBS through hardtimes.
  • The past issues with SEBS Complex fund and masterplan were discussed and lack of coordination and understanding between successive management were highlighted.
  • Need to form a new plan for SEBS Complex was emphasized.
  • The need for BNKS to recognize SEBS as an important part of BNKS future and need for SEBS to help guide the school and sustain its growth and development.
  • Regarding SEBS-NA, Sagar Onta (477B) presented the vision of SEBS-NA to be an implementing arm of various Nepali organizations in US regarding projects in Nepal.
  • Also, the vision of running SEBS-NA as a non-profit organization like United Way, Red Cross in the future was presented. All attending dais enthusiastically supported these ideas and vision.
  • The need for SEBS and SEBS-NA to work for community development projects and giving back to Nepal was emphasized. It was recognized that this will be the main tool to eradicate the misconception of BNKS acting as brain drain for Nepal.
  • Bal Krishna dai emphasized for professionalism in SEBS Website and realize that other organization with interest in SEBS will visit the site and get first impression.
  • The need for discussion forum NOT to be the main attraction of the website was recognized.
  • Communication between members were highlighted.

    UPCOMING TASKS:
    The meeting was very fruitful and SEBS-NA General Secretary will be working
    on the following points:
  • With discussion with SEBS-NA excomm, formulate guidelines for project initiation, project plans, goals and project implementation.
  • Work on marketing material to promote SEBS-NA as implementing arm of various Nepali organizations in US.
  • Work on enhancing the SEBS Website and bring about professionalism and responsibility.
  •
