    SEBS AGM-2006 Held: New Executive Commitee in Office

    SEBS AGM 2006 Details:
    SEBS AGM 2006 Held: New Executive Committee in office

    The 24th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Society of Ex-Budhanilkantha Students (SEBS) was held amidst a function organized at the Aviation Academy in Kathmandu on August 19, 2006 (Bhadra 3, 2063). The AGM elected a new SEBS Executive Committee 2006/2007 under the leadership of Dinesh Rokaya (317B). The AGM was a grand success with a very encouraging turn out of around 120 SEBS members from the first bath (100A) to the latest batch (600C) of SEBSers.

    The AGM-2006 which was held under the chairmanship of President Bishan B. Wagle, began with the closed session that formally approved and passed the 'SEBS Annual Progress Report -2005/2006' presented by the General Secretary Prashant Subba and 'SEBS Financial Report (Unaudited)-2005/2006' presented by the Treasurer Manoj Shrestha, after a constructive and a productive interaction/discussion. The financial report is to be audited at the earliest possible. The AGM also approved the 'NSP Progress Report-2006' and 'NSP Financial Report-2006" presented by the NSP Chairperson Bijaya Babu Shiwakoti.

    a. Interaction/Discussion:
    During the discussion held in the closed session in regards to increasing the participation of SEBSers and improving the financial situation of SEBS, participants discussed at ways of increasing the source of income of SEBS and moving ahead. After a productive discussion and a question-answer session, everyone accepted the fact that 'SEBSers participation at SEBS' was the most important thing that could make a positive difference to SEBS in regards to its income, programs, activities and overall institutional development as a whole. It is the "SEBSers' participation" which can make a difference to SEBS.

    b. Certificate of Citation:
    During the AGM, 'Certificate of Citation' were awarded to the following three SEBSers for their continued service and contribution towards the development of SEBS.
    1. Rakesh Kumar Vaidya, 936A
    2. Jagadish Bhattarai, 295B
    3. Chitra Gurung, 914B

    C. Contributions/Commitments:
    In regards to improving the financial situation of SEBS and increasing SEBSers participation, following commitments for contribution/coordination were committed by the following batches/members/institutions during the AGM:

    1. 200B batch): Rs.20,000/- (twenty thousand only): Keshav Khatiwada, 251B,declared the commitment on behalf of 200B.

    2. 400B batch): Rs.25,000/- (twenty five thousand only)- Ritesh Shrestha, 460B declared the commitment on behalf o 400B, and further said that he would take the responsibility of coordinating and ensuring 400B's active participation in SEBS activities.

    3. Chelsea International Academy: Rs. 5,000/- (five thousand only)- Rajesh, 400C declared the commitment on behalf of Chelsea.

    4. 600A batch: Dhan Bdr. Lama (626A) committed that 600A batch would contribute 'some amount' to SEBS and that he would take the responsibility of coordinating and ensuring 600A's active participation in SEBS activities.

    5.500B batch: Indu Adhikary (594B) committed that she would take the responsibility of coordinating and ensuring 500B's active participation in SEBS activities.

    6.600C batch: 691C bhai from committed that he would take the responsibility of coordinating and ensuring 600C's active participation in SEBS activities.

    Thus the SEBS AGM-2006 witnessed a commitment of Rs. 50,000 (Fifty Thousand only) coming from different batches to SEBS along with the commitment for coordinating and ensuring members participation in SEBS activities. The respective batches/individuals will inform of the timeline for the disbursement of their said money contribution to the Ex-Com, soon.

    On behalf of all the SEBSers, SEBS Ex-Com 2005/2006 heartily thanks all the individuals who declared the abovementioned commitments on behalf of their respective batches/institutions. We hope that this is just the beginning of the SEBSers true commitments towards SEBS and it will continue to be even more stronger in the days to come. We sincerely look forward to seeing more of such kinds of commitments together with its fulfillment, from other batches and SEBSers in the days to come.

    d. Election for the new SEBS Ex-Com 2006/2007:

    For the purpose of holding the election for the new executive committee, SEBS Election Commission 2006 was constituted with the following SEBS members who generously volunteered to be in the commission:
    1. Dhan Bahadur Lama, 626A
    2. Gyanendra Raj Pandey, 937A
    2. Roshan Shrestha, 002B

    The election and voting was held only for the position of the 'President' and the "General Secretary'. Dinesh Rokya (317B) & Prashant Subba (445B) and Indu Adhikary (594B) & Kamal Nepal (813B) had filed their candidacies for the positions of the President and General Secretary, respectively. One hundred and one (101) SEBSers voted in the election. The rest of the executive committee members were elected unopposed.

    SEBS Ex-Com heartily thanks and congratulates the Election commission for successfully fulfilling their responsibility and thus democratically electing the new office bearers through a systematic election procedure.

    e. The New SEBS Ex-Com 2006/2007:

    The AGM -2006 successfully elected a new SEBS Executive Committee 2006/2007 with the following new office bearers:

    President: Dinesh Rokaya, 317B
    Vice President: Santosh Shah, 053C
    General Secretary: Kamal Nepal, 813B
    Treasurer: Laxman Dhungana, 309B

    Ex-Com Members: Suresh Lohani,519B
    Bhim Bahadur Shahi, 605B
    Ganga Jaishi, 490C
    Pukar Ghimire, 578C
    Dinesh Ratala, 692C


    f. Closing and Thanks:
    The program which was scheduled for 1pm, was delayed by an hour due to the heavy disturbances in the city, as a result of the demonstration against the price hike of petroleum products. Despite the road disturbances, it was really great to se such a great turn out of SEBSers in the AGM. Refreshments were served after the end of the closed session and the program ended at 6pm.

    Roshan Shrestha (002B), Vice President, SEBS-NA, addressed the meeting by reading out the message sent by SEBS-NA President Bhupendra B. Pant (550B) to the SEBS AGM, with his best wishes. FOBS Vice Chairman also addressed the meeting.

    SEBS Ex-com express its great appreciation to Suraj Dahal (203B), Executive Chairman of Aviation Academy for providing the venue for the AGM and for the wonderful logistical arrangements at the venue and for all his guidance. Special thanks to Madhu Acharya, 272B for being the Master of Ceremony (MC) of the whole program. Special thanks again to Bijaya Shiwakoti, NSP Chairperson, for all his assistance, support and cooperation throughout the AGM preparation and moreover on the AGM day.

    Concluding the AGM, SEBS President, Wagle thanked everyone present on the occasion for their encouraging participation in the discussions and their contributions/commitments towards 'our own SEBS' and primarily for coming to the AGM despite the disturbances in the city and thus making it a grand success.

    Finally, the outgoing SEBS Executive Committee 2005/2006 heartily thanks every SEBS member who helped to make this AGM a grand success with their encouraging and enthusiastic participation throughout the program.
