Fund Raising appeal to all SEBSers and Well Wishers
for Educational Audit of Budhanilkantha School

For the first time ever in the history of Budhanilkantha School, SEBS has initiated the Educational Auditing of the school. This has received a warm response from all those associated with the school and many view it as a milestone that could further strengthen the academic rigor at the alma mater.

A team led by Prof. Dr. Bidhyanath Koirala with some of the SEBSers are working together in the project. I, on behalf of SEBS Executive Committee, would heartily like to request everyone to make a whole-hearted contribution in this regard and reaffirm our commitments as SEBSers that we are genuinely concerned about the well being of the alma mater.

Different organizations have assured of their full cooperation – Budhanilkantha School itself has vowed to donate NRs. 200,000 – to meet the estimated cost of around NRs. 650,000.00. It is time we stepped forward and made our contribution to advance one of the goals of the alumni.

    Outline of the Educational Audit:

    Educational Auditing

    Introduction
Educational auditing aims to analyze current performance, establish a baseline for strategic improvement purposes, and identify and implement quality processes for educational enhancement by overseeing on internal and external environment of the school through examining of the socio-political and economic context of Budhanilkantha School. This is yet to be responded with research back-up both for internal and external questions. This will be examining the areas of educational performance, gender relation, power dynamism, stakeholders’ perception towards the school and national/international contributions of the school graduates.

    Focus of the Study.
The educational auditing is going to be done in four areas:
    (i) Context: It will be examining the reading materials in relation to their delivery process, sufficiency, applicability to Nepali life and their relation to the extra/co/curricular programs.
(ii) Input: It involves assessing the issues of teacher and students (recruitments by gender, caste, class, ethnicity, etc), training, evaluation etc.
(iii) Process: It covers examining teaching methods, application, testing styles and learning processes.
(iv) Output: It is focused in finding how many students have completed their education (no. of repeaters, dropouts, passers, push outs and how many got jobs inside or outside the country.
Besides, a tracer study is already conducted and we will further develop the quality parameters such as excellence, stakeholders’ satisfaction, marketability of the school graduates, and their contributions to the societies to asses the quality of the education.
Beside that, we will be auditing the school from the three principles viz., materiality, completeness and responsiveness.

    Rationale of the Study
The following reasons encouraged to propose for the study:
    (i) How the Budhanilkantha School (BNKS) is maintaining educational quality?
(ii) What have been the national and international responses on the quality of its education?
(iii) How far is the BNKS inclusive to address plurality of the country?
(iv) What has been the turnover of the investment of parents for their children’s education?
    (v) How the contemporary issues have been addressed by the school?
(vi) What has been the power dynamism among and between teachers, students, parents and other stakeholder of education?
(vii) How the BNKS has been able to promote multiculturalism in the School?
(viii) How far the school has been successful in ensuring social justice in education?

    Objectives of the Study
    • To analyze the context of the school.
    • To analyze the input of the school.
    • To analyze the process of the school.
    • To analyze the product of the school.
    • To draw the implications for educational improvements.

As per the nature of the study, there is a methodology for collection of quantitative and qualitative data collection four human resource including female and a consultant. For this, the consultancy contract between the SEBS committee and the consultants- for the entire contract period- is as per the following payment schedule on total budgeted amount of NRs.6,50,000 (six hundred fifty thousand rupees):
? 40% of the total amount upon signing the contract.
? 30% of the total amount after submitting the first draft.
? 30% of the total amount after submitting the final report.
