On August 1, 2007, SEBS North America took the opportunity to announce the guidelines for a new fund for BNKS student projects titled:
"SEBS-NA Annual Fund for Student Projects"
Starting 2007, SEBS North America will annually provide full or partial funding for projects initiated by student groups or organizations at Budhanilkantha School according to the following guidelines:
1. Any club or a student group at BNKS can submit one proposal in a given calendar year. A formal proposal should be submitted to sebsna@sebsonline.org as a Word/Excel/PDF document with the following information:
• Description of the project including student’s proposed activity, location, time plan, expected outcomes, and the expected benefit to the students participating in the project.
• Detailed budget sheet with a neat breakdown for transportation, materials, program costs, etc. We would discourage projects with high administrative expenses.
• Brief summary of previous projects by the club (including past years’ activities).
• The name of the club, name, batch and roll number of all students involved, including their email addresses if possible, and their designations in the club.
• A scanned copy of an approval letter in the school letterhead signed by the club coordinator (or a Vice-Principal in absence of a club coordinator).
2. The project must have an implementation scheme to foster leadership development in addition to the stated goals of the project. In other words, the project should be creatively designed to actively involve students rather than just provide one-time donations of food/equipment/supplies to someone.
3. The deadline for the first SEBS-NA Annual Fund for Student Projects proposal for the year 2007/2008 is December 15, 2007.
4. A maximum of two best project proposals submitted to SEBS NA will be funded every year. SEBS-NA has allocated $600 every year for this fund. The amount awarded depends upon the budget sheet submitted and its evaluation by SEBS-NA executive committee members. You are also encouraged to seek outside resources to complement the funds.
5. Preferences will be given to projects resulting in positive social outcomes. Examples include programs meant to promote inter-caste interactions, uplift discriminated ethnic groups, or help in the social/economic/health advancement of marginalized communities and/or locations of Nepal etc. The results need not be large-scale but should be meaningful.
6. SEBS-NA reserves the right to not award any funds in a given year if it is not convinced about the merits and efficacy of the submitted proposals.
7. SEBS NA will reevaluate the effectiveness of the program based on the feedback from clubs and BNKS and reserves the right to revise the guidelines in future. SEBS-NA will make sincere efforts to inform the school and clubs about any changes made and how it affects them.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact SEBS-NA at sebsna@sebsonline.org
