Hemraj Bhandari Memorial Scholarship formed within NSP
    Author: Roshan Shrestha 002B
    Post Date: 9/30/2007
On September 23, 2007, members of the 800B batch, Nationwide Scholarship Program (NSP) and Hemraj Bhandari's family signed agreements to form Hemraj Bhandari Memorial Scholarship Program (HBMSP) within Nationwide Scholarship Program (NSP). Bhaba Thami,Bijaya Siwakoti and Rupendra Bhandari signed on behalf on 800b, NSP and Hemraj Bhandari's family respectively. This event coincided with the memorial service and the aviation safety consultation workshop in memory of Hemraj Bhandari of 800B where around 45 people attended.

Previously, members of 800B, SEBS members and wellwishers of Hemraj, had raised US$ 4280 for the Hemraj Memorial Fund ($3852 after deducting transaction costs for pay pal). $ 2000 was handed over to Rupendra Bhandari, Hemraj's brother, in 2006, and in early September this year. This amount will be used to cover the educational cost of Hemraj's siblings.

Hemraj's family and 800B members agreed that creating Hemraj Scholarship Fund under NSP was the best alternative to keep Hemraj's memory and contribution alive and decided to use the remaining amount of $ 1852 to set it up. The interest from the fixed deposit and future donations from 800b friends and other well-wishers will fund intermediate level students on an experimental basis beginning next year.

Thanks to 800b batchmembers, SEBS-NA, and NSP and other wellwishers for all the support in making this possible.
