What's New with The Santi School Project
Author: Vidhan Rana, Secretary - NSP-NA
    Post Date: 12/10/2007
The Santi School Project is building a primary school in a rural village in Nepal. This is the second edition of our email newsletter.

WHAT'S NEW WITH THE SANTI SCHOOL PROJECT
We've broken ground on the school! The villagers in Ramche, Nepal, have begun work on the foundation after leveling the ground for the site. About 40 people are helping to dig, many of them with nothing more than flip-flops on their feet. A meeting Dec. 8 in Ramche will emphasize the importance of the local community running the school from this early stage.

THREE-QUARTERS OF THE WAY TOWARD OUR GOAL
To date, we've raised more than $16,000 of our goal of $20,000. Thank you to all of our contributors! We've come a long way since we started in June. Join us at our upcoming events (see below) and help put us over the top.

    ART AUCTION A HUGE SUCCESS
We didn't know what to expect of our first silent art auction at the Load of Fun gallery in Baltimore the Saturday before Thanksgiving. It turned out to surpass our expectations in every way. More than 40 artists donated a total of 95 pieces of artwork and we raised nearly $3,000. Best of all, nearly 200 people showed up. Special thanks to all the artists who donated work; to organizers Jen Becker and Laura Parkhurst; and to Zeke Bailey, Mischa Wagner and The Frontier Dentists for providing live music.

GIVE THE SANTI SCHOOL FOR CHRISTMAS
As an alternative gift this holiday season, make a donation in the name of a friend or family member. We'll provide you with a card explaining your gift or send it directly to the recipient. Here's a chance to combine the simplicity of a gift card with the joy of helping children in need. For more information, send a message to info@santischool.org or reply to this email.
