    SEBS Emergency Relief initiative

Since early 80’s Society of Ex-Budhanilkantha Students, ‘SEBS’ has been associated with a range of socially oriented volunteer activities with a commitment of serving the very communities at large, its alumni once represented at the one and only national school.

With the dedicated support and relentless campaigning of more than 3000 Budhanilkantha alumni through different chapters, nationally and abroad; SEBS’ initiatives like Nationwide Scholarship Program (NSP), ‘Doko dai’ a mobile library which seeks to promote reading culture in rural areas, periodic health camps and other humanitarian relief activities have reached out to the needy in far-flung remotest corners.

Success stories be it Shakuntala Majhi one of the 526 recipient of NSP recently completing her higher education from Padma Kanya College or grant worth US$ 166,771 awarded by the World Bank's Development Marketplace 2003 to ‘Doko dai’; in their own subtle manner have altruistically boosted the morale of SEBS.

Having distributed relief materials to more than 3000 flood victims in Sept 06, SEBS has decided to commit itself to the alleviation of pain and suffering of fellow citizens facing calamities like floods, landslides etc. by providing relief aid to the victims, annually as a campaign commencing 2008.

SEBS has set up a Relief fund of approx 500,000 rupees to embark on emergency relief support to victims of natural calamities and to start with we are targeting to provide immediate relief package comprising of food, basic medication, cooking utensils and tarpaulins to enable more than 10,000 ill fated flood victims recover in the immediate aftermath of inevitable floods this year, until they receive a more sustained support.

Giving is an act, which surpasses all other deeds; hence SEBS appeals to fellow alumni and others to generously support and contribute to the existing emergency relief fund and help SEBS help shed and share some of the pain and sufferings of distressed victims.
