    Statement by the newly elected President of SEBS
    Author: SEBS
    Post Date: 8/11/2009
    STATEMENT BY THE NEWLY ELECTED PRESIDENT OF THE SOCIETY FOR EX-BUDHANILKANTHA STUDENTS (SEBS) MR SURESH ACHARYA (139A) ON THE ASSUMPTION TO THE POST OF PRESIDENT OF SEBS ON AUGUST 10, 2009 MONDAY

    Dear all SEBSers,
    Colleagues and distinguished ladies and gentlemen;

    I express my sincere thanks to SEBsers who had unanimously elected me to the highest office of the SEBS and the trust and confidence shown towards me to lead the SEBS at the critical juncture of transformation.

    I would also like to express my thanks to all SEBsers who are residing in Nepal and abroad for their affection and kind support to me but were unable to attend the 29th Annual General Meeting. At this moment, I cannot forget to thank all my colleagues and well-wishers for the gesture shown towards me on my election to the President of SEBS by its AGM held in Kathmandu on August 8, 2009.

    I am grateful to Mr. NP Sharma, Principal of Budhanilkantha School for his august presence at the AGM echoing his concerns and support to SEBS- an integral part of the School, for its growth and expansion.

    I understand the feelings of SEBSers that SEBS today is in a difficult state of affairs. I also value their desire to redefine and restructure it to make it member-friendly institution by providing broader opportunities to them for their constant engagement in its operation.

    I am fully confident that the new team under my leadership will put in all efforts to drive it safely to the new height with the continuous support, cooperation and participation of all members and well-wishers in SEBS forthcoming programs. The new Executive Committee will be guided by the decisions made at the AGM, and I would like to give assurance to all SEBSers on behalf of the Executive Committee that we will bring out our Policies and Programs within 15 days of the assumption of office.

    Despite the bad financial health of SEBS with a minus balance in its coffer, the new Executive Committee has shouldered the responsibilities to reinvigorate it. We will bring out a White Paper about the current status of SEBS latest by the next week. The policy of new Executive Committee is not to encumber any individual SEBSer financially, but it will welcome with due admiration and recognition any institutional support organized or collected by our members and well-wishers by their individual or collective efforts.

    At this moment, I appeal to all our members and fraternity to express your gut-feelings about overall issues, concerns and future of SEBS particularly, the areas of support you are willing to offer to SEBS to make it a robust and dynamic Alumnae in the upcoming years through SEBS-NA online forum and other means of communication. Such efforts might be in areas like infrastructure development, office management and equipment assistance, program and proposal development, architectural designing, financial discipline and sustainable resource-base, SEBS profile/directory/roster publications, operating medical outreach programs and income-generating social ventures focused to SEBSer such as running overseas studies/job-placement information centers, tuition and counseling centers, cyber cafe/s and partnering in education and other welfare sectors, institution of SEBS cooperative and any other sectors which provide opportunities for SEBSers constant engagement in its programs and activities.

    Finally, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all SEBSers and colleagues, former presidents and office-bearers of SEBS ex-comm, Board of Trustees (BOT), Friends of Budhanilkantha School (FOBS), School Management Committee (SMC), SEBS-NA, SEBS-UK, students of BNKS, and well-wishers for felicitating newly elected ex-comm and showing commitment to support the programs and activities aim to centering the SEBS.

    Thank you!
