    Updates on SEBS Postings
    Author: Suresh Acharya, SEBS President
    Post Date: 10/14/2009
    Dear all,

I am happy that we could restore from 14th October 2009, the SEBS telephone line (no. 4411390) which was defunct since few years due to non-payment of telecom surcharges etc.

I would like to thank SEBSers for their comments and suggestions regarding the restoration of the telephone line.

I would also like to mention here that the present Ex-comm. under my presidency started its work from 10th of August 2009. And, when we got the mantle, the SEBS had about Rs. 5000 in its Bank Account, only the minimum amount to operate the account. I had also received a detail of financial statement from the previous Ex-comm. for the year 2065/066.

There are few questions raised in the thread, which I would now submit here as follows:

RE: Contributions of Sushil 273C and Sharad 370C- The financial statement has indicated that there are contributions to the SEBS from Sushil and Sharad respectively Rs 2000 and Rs 7000. But, these incomes to SEBS were executed during the tenure of out-going Ex-comm., so, I am unable to verify whether those payments to SEBS were from Sushil 273C and Sharad 370C or not? I hope this can be explained by the out-going president and other office bearers. I can only say that those incomes were not incurred for the telephone restoration by the present Ex-comm. because those amounts were already utilized in some other budgetary headings by the previous Ex-comm.

RE: Payment of Annual Minimum Charge- As of today, we still have not been able to secure funds to pay the Annual Minimum Charge for the telephone just been re-stored. So, if there is no contribution from other SEBSers than we might have to face debacles again..! But, we are confident that we will be able to overcome the situation with the support of generous members.

As per the statement, the present Ex-comm. has the liability to pay Rs. 30,000 to the then Office Secretary for the work he did during the tenure of the out-going Ex-comm. So, the fifth meeting of the present Ex-comm. decided to pay Rs. 10,000 to the then Office Secretary from the present Ex-comm.'s new accruals and remaining will be paid when we have sufficient funds in our coffer to pay.

When I took the charge of the SEBS, 6 months house rent was due to the house-lady. By the generous contribution of Rs. 24,000 from the Batch 400B the present Ex-comm. was able to pay the cumulative house-rent of last 6 months.

Thank you all once again for suggestions and comments.
