    Regarding BOT appointment
    Author: Suresh Acharya (139A)
    Post Date: 2/24/2010
Though I am recuperating from illness, but, I thought I need to clarify issues concerning the appointment in BOT, especially raised in the Sebsonline forum. I am sad that some of the friends and bhais have raised questions, even without going through the constitution of the SEBS.

    I would briefly state that:

    1) There is no provision related to SMC or BOT in any of the SEBS Constitution since B.S 2052 to this date. Even the amendments in the SEBS constitution that were undertaken time and then has not specified any provision regarding the procedure of appointment in those bodies.

    2) Some of the participants in the sebsonline forum have claimed that there was precedence of seeking recommendation of the Past Presidents (PPs) Committee, but the SEBS constitution doesn't have any provision of a PPs committee as far as my knowledge permits.

    3) As per the available records at the SEBS office or sebs online archive, various ex-comms during their tenure had adopted various methods/modalities for the nomination in the SMC/BOT. This confirms that there is no specific and explicit procedure regarding the appointment. For the first time in the history of representation in the SMC, Mr Birendra Bahadur Basnet was appointed, but the same procedure was not followed in case of Mr Suraj Dahal. Likewise, Mr Gyanendra Pandey was appointed in a different way than Mr Suraj Dahal! So, which method should have current ex-comm. followed, whereas, no past procedures were exactly the same?

    4) Finally, I would like to mention here that Ex-comm. is the apex executive body of the SEBS as per the constituion of the SEBS. I reiterate that the current ex-comm. has not violated the SEBS constitution nor the past precedence/s.

Thank you all for participating in the discussion.
