    FIRST BATCH RE-UNION: MEMORABLE EVENT

Kathmandu, 20 April. It has been 30 years since the First Batch (100A) of Budhanilkantha School (BNKS) graduated from the school. On this occasion, the First Batch held the Re-Union on Sunday April 18, 2010 (Baishak 5, 2067 B.S) at Hotel Himalaya, Kopundole Lalitpur.

The program began with the welcome of invitees by the host-couple Suresh and Basundhara Acharya amidst the background of soothing music at Skyline Lounge of the hotel. The function was maintained as an informal gathering with no prior agenda for discussion.

The total of 14 (Fifteen) First Batchers, accompanied with their spouses attended the Reunion. Some of the old buddies had met their school friends for the first time after they left the school 30 years ago. Many of the participants were of the opinion that the Re-Union was a rare opportunity for sharing memories of the schooldays, chatting and social networking. The ever enhancing fraternity and emotional bonding amongst members was the highlight of the function.

During the function, many First Batchers opined that in future gathering the First Batch should also consider inviting the school mates from second, third and fourth batches as well citing their emotional attachment and camaraderie with those batches. Everybody missed these batches very much.

Rajendra Gongaju said, "I am indeed very grateful to you for organizing such a grand event." He has requested to continue organizing such events in the future to keep in touch with old buddies. Prakash Shumshere Rana and Subodh Das Shrestha also shared the same feeling like Gongaju. In fact, Shrestha-couple had postponed their trip to Hetauda by one day to attend the Re-Union. "The event has been memorable, it was great to be part of it", said Vivek Rana.

Members exchanged good wishes and gifts with each other and had marathon chat for over 4 hours regarding their works, family and school memories, and national political and economic developments. On the occasion, Meghendra Bir Shahi and Mrs Neeta Singh, handed over Rs 10,000 to Suresh Acharya for their pledge for the SEBS Team 101 Initiative. Acharya, thank the couple for their generous support.

Those who attended the function were Bishwa Prakash Malla (101), Radhesh Pant (105), Raghu Bir Pandey (106), Meghendra Bir Shahi (110), Prakash Shumshere JB Rana (112), Santosh Bisht (131), Rajesh Babu Shrestha (135), Suresh Acharya (139), Subodh Das Shrestha (142), Rajib Upadhya (148), Swoyam Prakash Shrestha (172), Saroj Shrestha (179), Vijaya Narayan Shrestha (180) and Pravin Rana (181). Vivek Shumshere JB Rana (241A) of the Second Batch was also present on the occasion. Some of the members had arrived in Kathmandu recently from overseas duty stations.

The First Batchers Abhinav Nursingh Rana (Kathmandu), Bir Bahadur Dangora Tharu (Mahendrangar), Mingmar Lama (Dharan), Komal Karki (Afghanistan), Harka Raj Pariyar (Pokhara), Rajib Raj Sharma (Nepalgunj), Arun Piya (China), Lumesh Mishra (Bhadrapur), Rishikesh Shrestha (Illam), Bal Krishna Regmi (Surkhet) and Yadav Bhatta (Kathmandu) had sent regret for inability to attend the function due to their prior occupation. Almost all of them are currently out of station.

First Batch friends from overseas like Lok Subba (Norway), Lok Bahadur KC (Afghanistan), Bimal Nepal (USA), Chandan Acharya (USA) had sent messages to the First Batch, and they all had wished success of the event.
