    SEBS-NA Elections 2010: Application Open!

    The independent Election Commission of SEBS-NA seeks nomination for all positions of SEBS-NA’s Executive Committee for the next term . All interested candidates seeking office are required to file for candidacy by filling the CANDIDACY FORM available at:http://www.sebsonline.org/misc/election_sebsna_about.aspx

    You must meet the following qualifications as required by the Article VIII of SEBS-NA’s Article’s of organization. Details of by laws can be downloaded from http://www.sebsonline.org/info/sebsna_articles.aspx.

    For President:
    -Candidate must have served at least one year in the Executive Committee (with SEBS, SEBS-NA, or SEBS-UK), be residing in North America, be a bona fide graduate of BNKS, and have a minimum of Bachelors degree.

    For other office and executive member positions:
    - Candidate must be residing in North America, be a bona fide graduate of BNKS, with minimum SLC degree.

    The election committee will confirm each submission and subsequently make a formal announcement of all interested candidates (with a brief profile) as mentioned below.

    Any interested candidate will automatically fill uncontested positions. If there is more than one candidate seeking a position, an election will be held online as well as by ballot during SEBS-NA’s AGM and reunion and the result will be decided by secret ballot. The election committee will attempt to fill all positions on Election Day. Candidates seeking office and individuals interested in voting are requested to be present during the election, however, excused absences will be accepted. If any positions are still vacant, the new Executive Committee will automatically assume the responsibility of filling those positions during it’s the first meeting. The final results of the election will be sent out to the community the next day after the election.

    All positions are currently open. Here is a complete list of the vacant positions:

    President
    Vice-President
    General Secretary
    Treasurer
    Joint Secretary
    Executive Members


    When a candidate submits his/her candidacy, it will be forwarded to the independent election commissioner. No one but he will have access to that and will draw up the candidates list on the date specified below. He will summarize the candidates with brief description about you and forward it to the webmaster who will post the Candidates information on the web. For contested positions, members can review the candidates list, review their brief descriptions and cast a web vote after logging in.

    Web voting will be permitted to candidates who have substantially resided in North America for the past one year from July 1 of last year to June 30 of this year. Webmaster will have the ability to verify the authenticity of the voters as determined in the eligibility but will not have the ability to see who received how many votes. Any controversial voter will be notified by the webmaster to the independent election commissioner who may disqualify such vote(s) upon review. If you feel that you are eligible to vote meeting the voters eligibility criteria but system did not allowed you to vote please send an e-mail to the webmaster with your verifiable address and contact information. Webmaster needs to notify the election commissioner of his decisions to accept/reject such cases.

    Only independent election commissioner can review and tally the vote. Commissioner will ask the webmaster to provide him the lists of candidates who have participated from the web-voting. Any members who may decide to cast the paper vote (designed by election commissioner) during the reunion will be checked against this list and permitted to vote.

    Election commissioner during the course of conducting this election may seek help from other community members to help smoothly conduct the elections or may seek opinions from SEBSers who are not Candidates or current excomm to make a sound decision. For members who are physically present in the reunion Election Commissioners has the discretion to allow or to disallow SEBS voters based on principle of "No Objection" for any special circumstances. His decisions will be final and cannot be contested.

    Election Commissioner will tally the votes for the competing candidates and will announce the winner at the end of the voting period.

    Election Term: July 2010 - June 2012
    Candidacy submission end date: 11:59:59 PM CDT June 20, 2010
    Announcement of candidates: June 22, 2010
    Web voting ends: June 30, 2010
