    Joint Meeting of SEB 28th AGM OC and SEBS EC held

    July 23, 2010, Kathmandu: The SEBS 28th AGM Organising Committee, 2010 and SEBS Election Committee, 2010 jointly met today in Sata-Aaki Memorial Building, Kopundole, Lalitpur to discuss on matters concerning the upcoming SEBS Annual General Assembly and general issues related to the SEBS.

    The joint meeting of the 60-member SEBS 28th AGM Organising Committee and 3-member SEBS Election Committee was presided by its Chief Convener (CC) of the SEBS 28th AGM Organising Committee Raghu Bir Pandey (106A), the first Batch BNKS alumni.

    The Deputy Chief Convener (DCC) of the SEBS 28th AGM Organising Committee Gajendra Bohara (441A) and Chief Officer of the SEBS Election Committee Satish Gautam (215A) were also present.

    Likewise, a large number of Batch Coordinators and SEBS Past Presidents (PPs), who are also members of the SEBS 28th AGM Organising Committee were present in the meeting. The Batch Coordinators have accepted to coordinate and network with their batch mates. The meeting univocally thanked the Batch Coordinators for their voluntary efforts towards the SEBS.

    CC Pandey requested the Batch Coordinators of all 28 batches of BNKS Alumni to bring at least 5 members of each batch to the upcoming SEBS 28th AGM. He also highlighted his team will render full support to SEBS AGM to make it an historic event.

    DCC Bohara reiterated his commitment towards the SEBS and shed lights on his proposal of establishing an income-generating venture with investors from the SEBS, which could ultimately contribute to the SEBS in augmenting its financial resources. Some of the members present were happy to invest in business ventures comprised of the SEBS members.

    Chief Officer of the SEBS Election Committee Gautam vowed to organize the event in impartial and fair manner. He also asked the SEBS Executive Committee to find out ways to institutionalize the bond between Alma Mater and Alumni.

    The Batch Coordinator of the First Batch Dr Swoyam Prakash Shrestha (172A) call upon all other Batch Coordinators to support the SEBS in making it more inclusive by galvanizing their respective batch mates in the SEBS activities including the upcoming AGM. He also shed lights that Batch groups should now prepare for playing pro-active roles in the SEBS in the coming days.

    The Second Batch Alumni Devendra Rijal (201A) suggested the SEBS to make it more attractive to its members through social servives especially involving the organization in the education sector. He thanked the present SEBS Executive Committee for its efforts in bringing SEBS to the present state from years of passiveness.

    Also the Second Batch Alumni Sanjiv Rijal (203A) suggested the SEBS to use the untapped potentials of SEBS members to strengthen the organisation. Rijal, represented the Batch Coordinator of the Second Batch Dr Arun Neopane (227A).

    Sudeep Bahadur Singh (342A), the Batch Coordinator of the Third Batch reiterated his batch commitment to the SEBS. He praised the idea of incorporating Batch Coordinators from all 28 batches of Budhanilkantha alumni in the SEBS 28th AGM Organising Committee-2010. He added, "This is an innovative initiation, and definitely would bear fruits in days to come."

    Dr Pramod Aryal (440A), the Batch Coordinator of the Fourth Batch proposed that the SEBS should work in an NGO fashion. He was of the opinion that SEBS should find ways to generate resources through engaging itself in social enterprises.

    Batch Coordinator of the Fifth Batch Binod Mishra (514A) emphasised that a provision should be made in the SEBS constitution to integrate and accommodate Batch Coordinator and batch representation in the SEBS. He thanked the SEBS for creating a space for Batch Coordinators in the SEBS activities.

    Batch Coordinator of the Sixth Batch Dhan Bahadur Lama (600A) informed that their batch are in regular contacts, and have organized more than half a dozen batch gatherings.
    Keshar Khulal, BNKS Representative to the SEBS 28th AGM Organising Committee emphasised that SEBS should now focus Public Private Partnership projects especially in the education sector. He said, "by submitting proposals through bidding process to international donors such as World Bank and ADB is the best way to revitalize the SEBS". Khulal is a SEBSer as well as well-known teacher of BNKS.

    SEBS former presidents and the ex-officio members of the SEBS 28th AGM Organising Committee Prajesh Bikram Thapa (559B) and Keshav P. Khatiwada (251B) explained inherent problems of the SEBS, and highlighted active participation and ownership of SEBS by its members. Thapa asked to follow procedures of the SEBS by all. Sharing his experience as a past president Khatiwada said that "even the ex-comm members were found to be passive in the SEBS operation after they were selected to the ex-comm." So he requested SEBSers to be serious on selecting ex-comm officers and members.

    SEBS Ex-comm Member and Past President Sagun Lawoti (933A) elaborated on SEBS Strategic Plan.

    SEBS Ex-comm Member Bolaram Pandey (900A) opined that its time that SEBSers should form a committee to look after the SEBS involvement in the education sector.

    SEBS President and the secretary of the SEBS 28th Organizing Committee-2010, Suresh Acharya (139A) said the greater participation of SEBS members in SEBS activities is an assurance for its sustainability.

    Acharya also informed the meeting that Budhanilkantha Business Cooperatives (BBC) has been etsablished recently under the SEBS banner in the initiation of 25 members of the Ninth Batch (900A)

    Citing the interest of the SEBSers CC Raghu Bir Pandey has called second meeting of SEBS 28th AGM Organizing Committee-2010 on July 30, 2010 (Srawan 14, 2067) Friday at 3:30 pm at Sata-Aaki Memorial Building, (Opposite of Himalaya Hotel), Kopundole, Lalitpur.

    Concluding the meeting CC Pandey expressed thanks for the overwhelming response by members.
