Advice to members seeking H1B visa: Member Service Goal
    Author: SEBS-NA
    Post Date: 2/27/2002
    Hello Everyone,

The main goal of SEBS-NA is to provide service to its members (see meeting minutes, Feb 23). This will include advice on various aspects of living in North America e.g. education, visa, finance, taxes, living, traveling etc. If you would like to help stablish a program under this goal please let us know.

Currently many members are in tough job market made especially hard when H1B, Working Visa, issue comes up with potential firms. Please know that the firm does not have to fully sponsor your H1B. Some of our members have landed a job with partial help. What that means is the firm just have to write a letter to INS saying you are its permanent worker with so and so annual salary. And then you will be responsible to find a lawyer (~$2,000) to do the paper work. So when the firm gets alarmed at mentioning H1B issue, calm them and say they have partial sponsorship option. This might help you land the job. Hope this information helps.

If any other member have similar experience or advice, please feel free to write.

    Thank you.
