    32nd AGM of SEBS

    The Society of Ex Budhanilkantha Students (SEBS) 32nd Annual General Assembly was successfully held on August 16, 2014 Saturday.
    SEBS annual general meeting was held at the premise of Nirvana wellness Center, Jawalakhel and witnessed the participation of more than fourty-five SEBSer. From the very 1st batch to the recent graduates were present at the occasion. The MC of the program was Mr. Prajwol Khadka(457B).

    The program started at 1:30 pm with a minute of silence to mark respect to the departed souls, founder principal Mr John B Tyson, former nepali teacher Mr. Ratna Bahadur Tamot sir, sebser Pemba Lama(458A) and sebser Dr. Bishnu Acharya(722A). SEBS President Dr. Sneedha Mainali 136C welcomed the guests and participants on behalf of the SEBS Executive Committee.
    The guests for the program were Mr. Keshar Khulal(804A), the Principal of Budhanilkantha School, Immediate Past President (I.P.P) Dr. Tejsu Singh Malla (248C), SSP Pushkar Karki (263A),Past President Mr. Sagun Lawati(933A). The 32nd SEBS AGM was Inaugurated by Chief guest Mr. Keshar Khulal and Past President SSP Pushkar Karki.Following the Inauguration 1st Vice President of SEBS- Vidhan Rana 349C welcomed everyone with a wonderful speech..
    A presentation of the annual report and future plans was presented by President following the welcome speech.The presentation also included the message from the founding president Mr.Bimal Nepal (107A). Two new members, namely Rajesh Nepali (920 C) and Biswas Chepang (125 D),were added to the current executive committee as 4 of the present Ex-com members had to leave the country for their further studies and 1 member failed to attained 3 consecutive SEBS meeting.
    The president presented about the activities conducted and attended by the Ex-com till august 2014.
    The current Ex-com priority is:
    -Duty towards ALMUNI,
    -Duty towards SCHOOL and
    -Duty towards SOCIETY.
    Furthe more she divided the activities conducted and attended into those three duties.
    According to her, the first formal program SEBS ex-com attended was the Monday School assembly in Budhanilkantha School on August 26th 2013. Followed by that, a Teej program was held for the lady SEBSers on September 7th 2013 which was co-ordinated by the President Dr. Sneedha Mainali 136C herself. More than 15 female SEBSer attended this program which is also considered to be one of the most largest get together of female SEBSers. On october 26th 2013, SEBS also organized an interaction program with the SEBSers vying for the election. 20 SEBSers attended that program held at Nirvana Wellness Centre and was coordinated by the President Dr. Sneedha Mainali(136C). She also mentioned that the revised (from last years AGM) Article of Association had been registered at CDO office. Adding to the activities conducted and attended, SEBS ex-com helped in the Self-Sustaining Campaign for Chepang Society which was co-ordinated by Biswas Chepang (125 D) .SEBS ex-com also attended the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Budhanilkantha Business Corporation (BBC) on 3rd January 2014. BBC is a business firm, run by a SEBSer which is a financial institution to collect small saving from SEBSer to invest in productive sector. The current ex-com also printed 300 SEBS T-shirts which is available in 3 diffrent colours. Ex-Com thanked Dr. Tejsu Singh Malla(248C) for taking responsibilty for printing T-shirts.
    The Ex-com plans to continue networking events like Ten-Past-Six.
    Adding to the duties, the president described about their duty towards the SCHOOL. Dr Sneedha started by saying that from this year, SEBS president is by position the member of Senior Management Committee. So, SEBS has direct hand in the school's activities and decisions and thus has been helping in well being of the school. The Ex-com also attended the Annual Sports Day on January 10 2014 and Open day on March 1, 2014. SEBS also participated in workshop (efficient management of budhanilkantha school) on 31st May2014 organised by FOBS and school at school itself. The 10th I.P memorial Art competition was also held in Budhanilkantha School on 2nd August 2014. From this year onward SEBS along with active participation of SEBS member Pashupati Shrestha(200C), Aj Bahadur Hamal and Sanjeev Shrestha has also been able to establish. “The most improved performance award” in Budhanilkantha School. Rs 10000 each will be awarded to one girl student and one boy student scoring the highest jump in percentage within one academic year. SEBS has also planned to donate computer for chemistry department worth 787 dollars. This amount has alredy been transferred by SEBS-NA to SEBS. SEBS has asked for the estimated cost for fixing taps aoutside the dining hall. 1st VP Vidan Rana informed about the progress regarding the Lawn Tennis Court renovation Project and has assured that the project will complete within their tenure. SEBS has also helped funding Prashant Dhimal for his visit to abroad. SEBS also discussed about the homework going on to establish endowment fund for school. The next activity is Binod Memorial Dance competition.
    Furthermore, the president presented their activities conducted for the society. Here she described about the clothes, food, other materials and financial support of Rs. 33,000 to towards education of children affected by recent landslide . The president also described about SEBS participation in the medical and dental camp organised by Himalayan Family Health Care Organisation(HFHCO) based in St. Louis . This took place in Manang from 24th September to 1st October . This is the second time SEBS has participated in this camp.The president has also signed MOU on behalf of SEBS with HFHCO on 15th November 2013. Also, SEBS has given office space to HFHCO . HFHCO has also been financially helping to run SEBS. She also mentioned that the next health camp is being planned from October 18 to October 24, 2014.
    Thenafter, NSP updates were provided by member Sharad KC who is also acting as the current coordinator of NSP . He informed the members that despite repeatedly extending the time period the report presented by previous NSP team was unsatisfactory and the NSP team had resigned. He mentioned that fixed deposit accounts of NSP has been renewed. Right now, NSP has Rs. 89285 in International Leasing and Finance Corporation , Rs, 82100 in Yeti Development Bank Limited and Rs 5000 in Nepal Credit & Commerce Bank Limited to utilize.
    He also said that Swastika Kumari Chaudhary from Ghorahi, Dang was awarded Hemraj Scholarship of NPR 7,000 through Rupendra Bhandari (Hemraj Scholarship Coordinator). He discussed about possible future of NSP- either 1) continue as it is, hire a part-time NSP secretary/coordinator. Find and appoint new district coordinators and work with them, or
    2) Work with other reputed organizations i. e. eg collaborate with organizations like Eduvision and Shanti School to provide scholarships and NSP will provide financial support through these organizations(Ask for reports on usage of the fund awarded on a timely basis)
    He also welcomed suggestions.
    Followed by the above presentation, a message from SEBS-NA President , Kiran Sitoula (200B) was read by the 1st VP of SEBS Mr.Vidan Rana.
    The session ended for a tea break of about 20 minutes, where SEBSers were able to introduce themselves and intermingled with other members of the fraternity. The break was enjoyed with biscuits, tea and coffee.

    The second, closed, sessions started at 4:00 pm with the presentation from the representative of BBC Ms. Punam Bajracharya.
    Following her presentation the presentation of the financial report till August 2014 was presented by the SEBS Treasurer Kushal Raj Pandey 217C. The presentation clearly showed the income and expensis that SEBS had occured till august 2014. The total Income for SEBS was Rs 892535 and the expense on the other hand were Rs 403972 . The treasurer presented the future expected incomes(300 tshirts) and expenses(loan of 30000 taken from Vidhan Rana by the previous ex comm) as well.
    Following his presentation the chief guest of the program, the Principle of Budhanilkanths School Mr. Kesar Khulal who is aso a SEBSer (804 A) gave a short speech. In his speech he talked about the activities conducted by SEBS. Moreover, he reinforced that the relation of SEBS and the school should be more stronger. He added that SEBS played a vital role in the progress of Budhanilkantha School and it's development. He also thanked SEBS-NA for their financial and technical help they have continuously been providing. He concluded informing the SEBSers that the school will be opening a facebook page to build database and help SEBSers and public reach the information provided easily and help in strong networking among the SEBSers. He also asked for IT help for the same.
    Following the speech from the Principle of Budhanilkantha, A certificate of recognition was given by the chief guest to the Immediate Past President (I.P.P) Dr. Tejsu Singh Malla 248C for his hardwork and dedication towards SEBS.

    Finally an Open discussion was held among the SEBSers in the hall. The discussion was really effective and new and innovative ideas were given by the SEBSers present there. Some effective and innovative issues discussed in the floor issues were as follows:
    -Om Yadav (300B) suggested to use the networking advantages SEBS have, to distribute the funds related to SEBS NSP scholarship program.
    - Sagun Lawati suggested to shift the NSP funds into BBC.
    - Dr. Tejsu Singh Malla identified the error in the AOA, NSP issue, section 31, sub-section (1) and has asked the current ex-com to revise it. Further more, he also commented that NSP issue has been handled properly by this ex-com and is delightful to know that the Hemraj Scholarship is being provided again to the students.
    - Ujwal Thapa (500B) suggested the SEBS to create a online database about SEBS members which shall help every SEBSers to reach one another.
    -Radhe Joshi 143 A suggested the ex-com to innovate and generate new ideas to help old SEBSers.
    - Bolaram Pandey 900A highlighted the importance of SEBS complex.
    - Sameer 785 A suggested the ex-com to distrubute the NSP Scholarship funds, either to specific community or giving Scholarship in the schools which are operated by SEBSers. He adds that this will help SEBS in proper monitering and handling of the funds. He and many other sebsers also added that sebs complex should not be just charity work but should be a business venture of the sebsers so that school, alumni all can benefit from it.
    - Prajwol Khadka 400B suggested to conduct a platform to socialize rather than meetings types platform.
    - Chandan Sapkota 300C suggests that an almuni contact office should be made available inside the school premise. He further showed various examples in various college in U.S.A where an almuni contact office was located inside the college itself.
    The 32nd AGM endorsed SEBS annual report and SEBS financial report unanimously. It was also decided to nominate 3 members from the AGM to sign the minute of the AGM. The 3 member are Radhe Joshi 143A, Keshar Khulal 804A, and Man Bahadur Bhujel(180A).
    At the end, Vote of Thanks was given by 2nd Vice President Suman Mandal.
    Followed by the AGM, everyone present enjoyed momos and rejoiced memories of school.
