    SEBS-North America: Excomm Meeting Minutes March 30, 2002

    SEBS-North America Excomm Meeting Minutes

    When: March 30, 2002, 1:00 pm – 3:15 pm EST.

    On the above-mentioned date, time and place, the monthly SEBS-NA Excomm meeting was held. Meeting was delayed by 1 hour at the request of Kiran Sitoula.. The meeting was also attended, by Hemendra Bohra 978A as an observer. SEBS-NA would continue to hold monthly meetings that are open to members. Please contact Suren dai 161A, if you want to be an observer for future monthly meetings. Following agenda were discussed in the meeting.


    Agenda 1: SEBS-Complex
    It was mentioned that interest for SEBS-Complex is on the menu amongst the members but so far no concrete plan has been put forward by any party. However SEBS-NA plans to support any interest amongst members and will have a pledge page for SEBS-Complex. Money pledged will be disbursed for future SEBS-Complex.

    Agenda 2: – Internet Café
    It was noted that members of 500B are currently doing the feasibility study of it. SEBS-NA will support any efforts by the members of 500B towards Internet Café.

    Agenda 3: SEBS-North America 3rd Reunion in Washington D.C.
    It was recommended that a separate meeting be held on April 13th, 2002 to discuss specifically about the reunion. Kiran Sitoula is to draft a eligibility criteria and circulate it amongst SEBS-NA excomm and advisors mailing list for comments. SEBS-NA also officially thanked Prashant Subba (445B) for his Web banner for DC Reunion 2002.

    4. MoU Update
    It was noted that MoU draft #5 is currently being circulated between Gyanendra Pandey and Sagar Onta.

    5. Library Project
    Excomm has expressed their satisfaction over the progress so far. Transparency through web about communication has helped members to participate in the project. It was agreed that 1/3rd each of the total donated budget would be spent on Nepali Library Books, English Library books and Annual Subscriptions of magazines. Emphasis would be given on books with writers of Nepali origin, sports rule book as requested by PE department and cost- effective means would be used (using half.com, Indian print as opposed to expensive print). SEBS-NA will also solicit support of SEBS in executing this project. It was also noted SEBS-NA has made another shipment of books to BNKS library. Details to be posted in the web.

    6. Update on Ram Khadka’s project : Panchawati Gramin Bikash Kendra
    It was noted that Ram Khadka 412B has obtained the details of the project and would be faxed to excomm for consideration. Excomm will post the communication in the web.

    7. Collection and review of comments from advisors on Project Acceptance Policy
    Advisors have sent in their comments. Resived PAP with advisors comment will be circulated.

    8. NPCCI Project Update
    Roshan Shrestha 002B has been nominated as a contact person for NPCCI project. Sagar Onta to wait and coordinate.

    9. SEBS-NA Annual Report - Table of Content
    It was decided to be discussed on April 13, 2002 reunion related meeting.

    10. Web Committee progress
    Rajan notified that Samyem 887B, Puskhar 429B, Prashant 445B have agreed to be part of the webcommittee. Rajan is waiting to hear from Sudin and Ujwal.

    11. Separate Pledge page for SEBS
    It was agreed that Sagar will be authorized to deal with it in MoU.

    12. 9th batch Fund transfer
    It was notified that check has been sent to Gyanu for additional signature. Once received it will be sent to Gyanendra Pandey from 9th batch immediately.

    13. E-mail communications from SS Club bhai’s
    Members of various clubs from school have been approaching sebsna excomm for various forms of support including financial. General Secretary has responded to their request by notifying them that PAP is in progress and need to wait for MoU.

    Further
    Prior to the meeting informal chat was held with Hemendra dai was participating as a guest. He has requested that donors might have been confused about their intent when they pledged for General Fund. He was also apprised that the General Fund so far has been spent by SEBS-NA to buy T-shirts for members, expenses associated with reunion, to give cards to known graduating seniors in North America, banner purchase, website hosting fee, IRS registration fees, phone bills etc. He has recommended that donor be consulted prior to reunion to clarify the confusion. SEBS-NA has agreed to discuss and resolve this issue and future donations for SEBS-NA will be solicited through link http://www.sebsna.org website once the webmaster is ready for the migration. SEBS-NA would like to thank Hemendra dai for his valuable time.

    Meeting was adjourned at 3:15pm.
